Overview
This bill directs the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance to investigate how automobile insurance premiums are affected by driver’s license suspensions, particularly for offenses unrelated to driving. The investigation will specifically examine the use of credit ratings and addresses in determining premiums and whether these factors justify increased costs for drivers. The department must report its findings to the Governor and the Legislature within two years of starting the investigation. The bill is intended to address concerns raised by the Motor Vehicles Affordability and Fairness Task Force.
