Overview
This bill protects senior citizen tenants in certain public housing for seniors from late penalties when they are hospitalized. Landlords must waive late charges incurred during hospitalization and for five business days after discharge from a health care facility. There are exceptions if a tenant is immediately admitted to another facility without returning home, but they remain responsible for rent due before their lease ends. The bill also establishes penalties for landlords who violate these protections.
