Overview
This bill aims to improve the oversight of criminal investigations involving New Jersey law enforcement officers. It requires county prosecutors to notify the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability before starting an investigation into alleged misconduct. The Office will then supervise the investigation to ensure objectivity. Additionally, the Attorney General can step in and take over the investigation if they believe it’s in the state’s best interest.
