Overview
This bill amends New Jersey’s "three strikes law" (N.J.S.2C:43-7.1) to limit its application to individuals over the age of 18. Currently, the law applies to repeat offenders regardless of their age at the time of the prior convictions. This change means that a person convicted of three serious crimes will not be sentenced to life imprisonment without parole if those crimes were committed when they were under 18.
