Overview
This bill requires landlords of certain residential rental units in New Jersey to provide air conditioning or an operational air conditioning system. Specifically, it mandates that multiple dwellings housing senior citizens or individuals with disabilities maintain indoor temperatures of no more than 80 degrees Fahrenheit between May 16 and September 30 each year. The requirement does not apply to health care facilities or seasonal rental units. The bill also updates regulations for hotels and multiple dwellings regarding building maintenance standards, including air conditioning requirements.
