Overview
This bill requires the New Jersey State Division of Investment to review the assets held in the state’s pension and annuity funds. The goal is to determine if any of these assets are invested in businesses linked to foreign adversaries, as defined by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce. The review will consider ‘equity ties’ – such as manufacturing plants or ownership stakes – and exclude humanitarian aid activities. The Director will then report findings and recommendations to the Governor, Legislature, and State Investment Council within six months.
