Overview
This bill prevents the New Jersey State Board of Education from mandating the use of student growth objectives as a component of teacher evaluations. Currently, these objectives – assessments created by teachers to measure student progress – make up a significant portion (15-50%) of a teacher’s overall rating. The bill aims to remove this requirement, shifting the focus away from teacher-created assessments in evaluating teacher performance. It takes effect immediately upon passage.
