Overview
This bill increases penalties for human trafficking of children in New Jersey. It expands the definition of human trafficking to include any act of holding, recruiting, or providing a child under 18 for labor or sexual activity, regardless of whether it involves sexual exploitation. The bill also increases the potential prison sentence for these offenses, raising it from a potential term of 20 years to life imprisonment without parole. Furthermore, it establishes a fund to support victims of human trafficking and requires restitution to be paid to victims.
