Overview
This bill proposes to expand Medicare health care coverage to all residents of New Jersey, regardless of age, health, or disability status. The state would apply for waivers from federal regulations to implement this universal coverage program. CMS would estimate the costs and establish premiums, and existing health programs would be phased out in favor of New Jersey Medicare. The bill also prohibits private health insurance plans from offering duplicate coverage to ensure full participation in the Medicare program.
