Overview
This bill limits the amount landlords can charge for residential rental property application fees to a maximum of $50. It also establishes a penalty of $1,500 for landlords who charge more than this amount. The collected penalty money will be returned to the applicant. There are exceptions for one- and two-family dwellings offered for rent, and the bill requires the Division of Consumer Affairs to create rules for reporting violations.
