Overview
This bill increases the penalties for New Jersey drivers who fail to properly secure children in child passenger restraint systems (car seats) or booster seats. A first offense will result in a $100 fine, while subsequent offenses will carry a fine of at least $250. The bill also creates a fund to purchase child safety seats and distribute them to organizations that provide assistance with child passenger safety.
