Overview
This bill requires telecommunications companies and providers of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services to offer prorated refunds to customers who experience service outages lasting longer than 72 hours. Companies must adjust customer bills or provide credits without requiring customers to take any action. The bill also clarifies that credits are not required during major electric grid disruptions. The legislation amends existing state laws to establish these requirements and provides the Board of Public Utilities with the authority to oversee implementation and establish additional rules.
