Overview
This bill would allow judges to impose longer prison sentences for individuals convicted of receiving stolen property if they have a history of similar offenses. Specifically, a person convicted multiple times of receiving stolen property could face an extended term of imprisonment, provided the prior convictions occurred on separate occasions and within 10 years of their release from confinement or the most recent conviction. The prosecutor would need to request this extended sentence, and the defendant would have the right to a hearing to contest the decision.
