Bill overview
Nevada Assembly Bill 434 prohibits employers from taking adverse employment actions, such as firing or discipline, against employees who decline to attend meetings or receive communications from their employer if those meetings or communications are primarily about religious or political topics. There are exceptions for religious organizations and situations where the employee's refusal significantly disrupts their job or workplace relationship. If an employer violates the bill, they could be liable for damages, punitive damages, lost wages, and attorney’s fees. The bill also clarifies that certain communications, like required disclosures or job-related information, are not restricted.
