Overview
This bill proposes to restructure New Jersey’s electric and gas public utility industries. It allows electric public utilities to own and operate their own power generation facilities while maintaining existing regulations for those that don’t. The bill also introduces the possibility of gas public utilities discontinuing retail choice for residential customers, subject to board approval of updated rate schedules. It aims to modernize the industry and potentially offer consumers more options.
