This bill allocates $500,000 from the State General Fund to the Department of Public Safety’s Records, Communications, and Compliance Division to establish a forensic DNA testing program. The funds will be used to analyze DNA from unidentified deceased persons and, if necessary, conduct forensic genetic genealogy testing to identify potential matches in criminal investigations. Any remaining funds not spent by a specified date must be returned to the State General Fund.
