Overview
This bill makes it a crime of the fourth degree in New Jersey to knowingly and actively participate in a criminal street gang and to intentionally assist others within the gang in committing certain offenses, such as robbery, assault, and arson. It defines ‘criminal street gang’ using the existing legal definition from 2007. The law aims to address gang-related criminal activity by increasing penalties for those involved in promoting or facilitating such crimes.
