Overview
This bill establishes a system for the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) to oversee and control certain local economic development, community development, and housing programs if corruption is suspected involving a municipal officer or program official. Specifically, if a local official is convicted or charged with a crime of public corruption, the EDA can step in to review, supervise, and control the relevant municipal development program. The EDA would appoint a monitor to oversee the program for a period of three years following the last conviction, indictment, or charge related to the municipality.
