Overview
This bill would require certain state and local government agencies to offer a way for callers to speak with a human operator instead of just receiving an automated message when they call during normal business hours. Agencies that currently use automated phone systems to handle calls would be required to provide an option for callers to press ‘0’ to connect with a person. This change aims to improve access to information and services from government entities. The bill takes effect 90 days after it is enacted.
