Overview
This bill aims to protect renters of self-service storage facilities by limiting how owners can deny access to their personal property. It restricts owners from denying access unless it’s due to a legal lien, a government order, or other circumstances beyond their control. If access is denied for these reasons, the owner must restore it as soon as possible and cannot dispose of the property during the denial period. The bill also requires owners to notify renters in writing within seven days of determining their property is permanently inaccessible due to specific events.
