Overview
This bill allows New Jersey taxpayers to deduct the fair market value of certain donated vehicles from their gross income when they donate the vehicles to state or local law enforcement agencies. To claim a deduction greater than $500, taxpayers must provide an independent appraisal of the vehicle’s value. The bill also outlines requirements for law enforcement agencies to acknowledge donations and clarifies that agencies are not obligated to accept vehicle donations.
