Overview
This bill creates a new crime in New Jersey called ‘gang shoplifting.’ It defines this crime as when one or more people enter a store with the intention of stealing merchandise, either by taking it or damaging it to cause harm. Those convicted of gang shoplifting will face a minimum sentence of one year in prison, with no possibility of parole, and it will not be subject to the usual merging of convictions.
