Overview
This bill changes the rules for installing speed humps in New Jersey. Currently, municipalities and counties can install speed humps on residential streets with fewer than 3,000 vehicles per day without needing approval from the Department of Transportation. This bill increases that threshold to fewer than 4,000 vehicles per day for speed humps with a flat top of at least 10 feet, and also applies to speed tables. It also clarifies procedures for notifying neighboring municipalities and obtaining state approval for speed humps impacting state roads.
