Overview
This bill changes the penalties for taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission. Currently, it’s a fourth-degree crime. This legislation increases the crime to a third-degree crime for simply taking or operating a vehicle without consent, and a second-degree crime if the action creates a risk of injury or property damage. The goal is to increase the severity of punishment for these offenses.
