Overview
This bill requires water suppliers in New Jersey to promptly notify municipalities, school districts (including charter and nonpublic schools), and higher education institutions about violations of drinking water quality standards. When a violation requires a Tier 2 Public Notice, the water supplier must inform the relevant local government and school officials about the contaminant, the level of the contaminant, and suggested steps customers can take to address the issue. The notification will be delivered via telephone and electronic mail.
