Overview
This bill amends New Jersey law to increase the penalties for criminal trespassing while carrying a firearm. Currently, such offenses are typically disorderly persons offenses. However, the bill changes the penalty to a fourth-degree crime if the person possesses a firearm, and a third-degree crime if they possess a firearm while trespassing in certain locations like schools or dwellings.
