Overview
This bill exempts expansion or reconstruction of municipal and county buildings, as well as certain emergency services buildings, from the Highlands Water Protection and Planning Act. The expansion or reconstruction must remain within 125% of the existing footprint and not increase impervious surfaces by more than one-quarter acre. This exemption applies to projects that received approvals before March 29, 2004, or are part of a settlement agreement related to fair share obligations. The bill also clarifies that these exemptions do not alter funding formulas or property tax obligations.
