Overview
This bill establishes the New Jersey Innocence Study and Review Commission to investigate wrongful convictions in the state. The commission will study the causes of these convictions, review existing cases, and recommend reforms to prevent future errors. It will also examine the current system of restitution and reintegration programs for wrongfully convicted individuals and propose the creation of a permanent innocence review panel.
