Overview
This bill requires parents to be notified when their unemancipated minor undergoes medical or surgical procedures or treatments. There are exceptions to this notification requirement, including if the parent has already received notice, if the procedure is medically necessary due to an emergency, or if a judge grants a waiver based on the minor’s maturity, evidence of abuse, or the best interests of the minor. The bill also amends existing law to clarify the process for seeking a waiver and the court’s role in these proceedings.
