Overview
This bill requires New Jersey professional and occupational licensing boards to determine the national average time it takes other states to approve initial credential applications. Based on this average, the boards will use it as the standard timeline for approving applications in New Jersey. The Division of Consumer Affairs will review and approve these calculated averages, and after a year, will assess whether boards are meeting the established timelines. If not, fees collected will be used to hire experts to develop best practices for improving approval times.
