Overview
This bill proposes a temporary increase to retirement benefits for certain retired public employees and their beneficiaries within the Police and Firemen’s Retirement System (PFRS). If a retiree’s or beneficiary’s monthly payment is at or below 450% of the federal poverty level as of January 1, 2024 or 2025, they would receive a $1,000 enhancement paid in State fiscal years 2025 and 2026. The state will fund this enhancement through an appropriation from the State General Fund.
