Overview
This bill requires New Jersey colleges and universities, as well as certain private career schools, to inform the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority when a student receives approval for a federal borrower defense loan discharge. If the student was a resident of New Jersey at the time of enrollment, the institution must also notify the Authority of that fact. This ensures the state is aware of students who may be eligible for loan relief under federal law.
