Overview
This bill creates a new crime of child endangerment specifically related to the use of social media. It establishes that a person who knowingly acts in a way that harms a child’s physical, mental, or moral well-being through electronic communication, or directs a child to engage in a dangerous activity, can be charged as a second-degree offense if they have a legal duty to care for the child. For others, the offense is a third-degree crime. The bill also addresses the distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material found on social media platforms.
