Bill overview
This bill requires New Jersey’s local school boards to hire a specific number of staff members who have expertise in student mental health. Each school must have at least two such staff members, with additional staff being added proportionally based on student enrollment above 500. Licensed school counselors and school psychologists are considered eligible to fulfill this requirement. The law will take effect immediately and apply to the upcoming school year.
