Bill overview
This bill changes the rules for licensing elevator, escalator, and moving walkway mechanics in New Jersey. It removes the requirement that New Jersey must receive equal reciprocity from other states, allowing the licensing board to grant licenses to mechanics from other states whose qualifications are comparable to New Jersey standards. Applicants who receive a license through reciprocity will need to complete continuing education requirements to renew their license. Additionally, those completing the Local 3, IBEW training program will receive a limited license that restricts them from working on new construction projects within the state.
