Bill overview
This bill creates a statewide database to track the availability of beds in homeless shelters across New Jersey. The New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (HMFA) will allow shelter operators and referral agencies to access real-time information about bed occupancy through the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). Shelter operators must promptly update bed availability, and shelters must cooperate with the database to receive funding. The bill excludes shelters specifically for victims of domestic violence.
