Bill overview
Assembly Bill 552 modifies the Trust Fund for Child Welfare, which provides financial assistance to children receiving child welfare services in Nevada’s smaller counties. Currently, the Division of Child and Family Services deducts public funds spent on a child’s services from the Trust Fund account. This bill eliminates this deduction, allowing for more of the fund’s resources to be available for children’s needs. Any remaining surplus will be distributed to the child, their parent, or legal guardian when the Division’s responsibility for the child ends.
