Bill overview
This bill establishes requirements for sanctions against nursing homes receiving low quality ratings from the federal government. Specifically, if a nursing home receives a one-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services will issue warnings and potentially impose sanctions like limiting admissions, reducing payments, or prohibiting participation in the Medicaid program. If a nursing home receives a one-star rating in three consecutive quarters, more severe sanctions, including prohibiting admissions and removing residents, may be implemented. The bill also requires nursing homes with repeated low ratings to submit improvement plans and undergo evaluation by the division and the Department of Health.
