Bill overview
This bill requires New Jersey’s Department of Health to intervene in nursing homes that are significantly violating health, safety, or resident care standards. If a nursing home is found to have substantial or repeated violations, the department can hire a monitor or vendor to provide management support, consulting, staffing, or other resources to address the issues, facilitate transitions, or ensure orderly closure. The monitor must have expertise in long-term care and will report to the Department of Health and the nursing home’s owners.
