Bill overview
This bill requires businesses that sell firearms and ammunition in New Jersey to use specific merchant category codes. Starting May 1, 2027, merchant acquirers will be obligated to assign these codes to firearms merchants. The Attorney General will have the authority to enforce compliance, and violations could result in significant penalties, including fines and court orders to prevent further violations.
