Overview
This bill requires background checks for volunteers, employees, and organizers of youth and sports organizations in New Jersey. It expands the current law to include for-profit youth serving organizations and mandates annual criminal history record checks. The bill defines ‘youth serving organization’ broadly and establishes penalties for organizations that fail to conduct these checks, as well as for individuals who knowingly participate with disqualified individuals. It also addresses how schools with existing background checks fit into this new requirement.
