Bill overview
This bill expands the roles of licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and patient care technicians (PCTs) working at dialysis centers in New Jersey. Specifically, LPNs will be permitted to conduct pre- and post-dialysis assessments, reporting any abnormalities to a registered professional nurse. PCTs will also be authorized to administer saline and heparin to patients receiving dialysis, a change from current regulations. The bill requires the Commissioner of Health to create specific rules and regulations to implement these changes.
