Bill overview
This bill prohibits law enforcement officers in New Jersey from wearing masks or disguises while interacting with the public as part of their job. However, there are exceptions for undercover assignments, officers wearing protective shields, those using medical-grade masks for health protection with a physician’s approval, and officers wearing masks for smoke protection during a state of emergency. Violations of this law will result in a disorderly persons offense.
