Bill overview
This bill requires the New Jersey Department of Corrections (DOC) to inform inmates about any outstanding motor vehicle fines or penalties they incurred before going to prison. It also allows inmates to create a payment plan for these fines once they are released. The bill provides a 90-day grace period after release where no warrants can be issued for non-payment, and clarifies that municipal court warrants are also included in the notification.
