Bill overview
This bill requires automobile insurance companies to either consult with a licensed insurance producer before selling a policy or provide a cost-benefit analysis to the customer. The goal is to ensure consumers understand the potential costs and benefits of their insurance coverage. It includes an exception for online sales where insurers can provide a cost-benefit analysis instead of a producer consultation. The Department of Banking and Insurance will create rules to define what constitutes a consultation and cost-benefit analysis.
