Bill overview
This bill requires delivery network companies to maintain specific levels of automobile insurance for their drivers. Drivers using personal vehicles while logged into the company’s network, regardless of whether they are actively delivering, must have liability coverage of at least $50,000 per person/$100,000 per incident/$25,000 for property damage, plus personal injury protection and uninsured motorist coverage. When actively delivering, drivers must maintain higher levels of liability insurance ($1,500,000) and medical payments coverage. The bill also mandates that the delivery network company inform drivers about the insurance coverage they provide and ensures that insurance payments are made directly to the vehicle repairer or owner.
