Bill overview
This bill extends a provision in New Jersey law that allows retired members of the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) who previously worked for the Legislature to return to employment there. Specifically, it allows those who received a retirement allowance before 2021 or in 2022, 2023, or 2024 (excluding disability retirements) to work part-time for a maximum of seven years, without losing their retirement benefits. The bill also extends the length of time these former employees can return to work, and broadens the eligibility criteria.
