Bill overview
This bill requires New Jersey’s school psychologists and counselors to complete mental health first aid training. The training, established and approved by the Department of Education, will teach these professionals how to recognize and respond to the signs of mental illness in children and adolescents. School psychologists and counselors will need to complete the training within their first year of employment and then every three years as part of their professional development.
