Bill overview
This bill authorizes certain emergency coordinators – including volunteer fire company members, county fire coordinators, and county emergency medical services coordinators – to operate emergency lights (red and/or sirens) on their vehicles when responding to emergencies. It establishes a process for these individuals to receive identification cards from the Motor Vehicle Commission, allowing them to legally display these lights. The bill also clarifies that these individuals must adhere to all traffic laws and yield the right of way to authorized emergency vehicles.
