Bill overview
This bill allows individuals participating in Drug Court and other substance use disorder treatment programs to earn credit towards outstanding court-imposed financial obligations, such as fines and penalties. The court can assess a single penalty for multiple offenses if doing so wouldn’t create a significant hardship for the defendant and would foster their rehabilitation. Participants can also perform reformative service to reduce these obligations. The funds collected from these reduced obligations will be deposited into a revolving fund to support drug enforcement and demand reduction programs.
